Annual Support Campaign Volunteers
What: Help change lives! Participate in the Annual Support Campaign Telethon.
Where: Bank of America Building, 450 B Street, 18th Floor
When: 6:30pm to 8:30pm. We have opportunities every Tuesday in February. Come to one telethon night or come to all.

Basketball and volleyball League Assistant
What: The Downtown YMCA hosts a basketball and volleyball league. The coordinator needs assistance with score keeping and other league duties.
Where: Downtown YMCA Basketball Court
When: Monday and Thursday Evenings

Career Luncheon
What: Help youth get a head-start. Come share the wisdom you wish you would have known!
You and other professionals will start by giving a short introduction. You will then join students for short Q&A sessions at each table. Lunch will be provided by the YMCA.
Where: The location is to be determined. If you have access to a room that can hold 40-50 people with 5-7 tables for any of these dates, please let us know!

Fitness Intern
What: Provide support to fitness staff. Assist trainers with client assessments and personal training sessions. Provide help to members with health and fitness inquiries.
Where: Downtown YMCA
When: Flexible.
Qualifications: Pursuing a career path in physical fitness.
Time Commitment: Minimum 4 hours per week.

Literacy Tutors
What: The Downtown YMCA is diligent in its pursuit to address the issue of illiteracy among youth (ages 5-12) by offering one-on-one tutoring.
Where: Tutoring is held at the following elementary schools: Children’s Museum, Washington, and Logan Heights.
When: Tutoring occurs September through June, Monday through Friday, from 2pm to 6pm.
Time Commitment: Minimum 1 hour per week for 3 months.
Training: Please start your training as soon as possible! Volunteer Tutors are trained through a three hour EAR program sponsored by San Diego County office of Education.

Movie Editor
What: The Downtown YMCA hosts a variety of community programs that take place outside of the 500 West Broadway location. We have filmed some of our activities and events; however, the footage could use some TLC.
Qualifications: Experience editing movies and editing software.

PR Interns
What: A PR internship at the San Diego Downtown YMCA is very comprehensive. This is an incredible opportunity for an individual to gain hands on experience with public relations, networking, event planning, working with the media, newsletter writing, social media, market research, etc.

Resolution Run Volunteer
What: Participate in one of our oldest traditions. The Resolution Run is a 5k run which encourages people to include fitness in their New Years resolution. We are looking for volunteers to help with registration, photography, stop watches, distributing treats for the runners & more! Click here for more information on the event.

Special Event Volunteers
What: The Downtown YMCA has a variety of special events such as Summer Night at the Midway, the Resolution Run and the Good Friday Breakfast. Come participate in the festivities as a volunteer!

Y Ambassadors
What: Y Ambassadors help YMCA members feel welcome. Some of their responsibilities include attending membership appreciation days and keeping current on Y activities.
Where: The Downtown YMCA
When: Flexible
Time Commitment: 1 hour a week for a minimum of six months.
Training: There is a mandatory orientation.

Internships

Volunteer
Volunteers in the community greatly support the YMCA. Volunteers play an active role on the Board of Management, in committees and fundraising, as coaches, referees, literacy tutors and office support.
Your involvement as a volunteer is greatly appreciated and is an integral part in the success of all our great programs and events!
