"I was preparing to go to the Artic Refuge on an 11 day expedition. I explained the length of my trip to Downtown YMCA's personal trainer Jil Harris. I wanted a 10 session core strength training and conditioning program.
Jil designed the sessions and the equipment to be utilized. She was very enthusiastic in developing a program to work all muscle groups from shoulders to knees that I would need to be in good shape for my arctic adventure. We worked the lower back, pectorals, lats, biceps, thighs, glutes, biceps, triceps, calf and hip muscles. Our routine finished off with various sit up exercises using upper and lower abs. At the end of the 10th session, I was ready for my journey to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
While I was tired every night, I was not sore and I did not feel that I was risking injury. I owe a great deal of credit to Jil for helping get prepared for this treasured experience.”
